My latest move took me to the south of France where I was living and studying French in Aix-en-Provence. On my last weekend I took some time out to enjoy the Mediterranean life on the coast of Nice. I joined a small food tour with Viator which took us through Vieux Nice to seek out provençal specialities. I have partnered with Viator a few times now, mainly because I love that they use real locals who live in the city to show travellers where locals eat and shop. This particular tour was small (they don’t book more than 8 people in a group) so it felt more like a local friend taking us around her own neighbourhood.
Check out my video for Viator on how to eat like a local in Nice, France.

Tour is best option for the foodie person especially with a local person who lives there.

The food tour was great, I was the one who liked to discover the food from the places I went.

Thanks for posting the article and video. I’m always curious on how locals do eat and do things in different parts of the world. It’s always very different from what we think it is. I agree with with Jessica, food in France is awesome!

I spent two weeks in the French Riviera last month, and the best thing about the trip was the food – and the Swiss Chard tarts!
I love taking food tours when visiting a new city, but unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to join a tour in Nice. We did, however, have a meal in a local home one night (we found our hosts through BonAppetour). That was such a unique experience!

You really can learn so much about a culture through its food! Thanks for the tip Jessica, I haven’t tried BonAppetour yet but I would like to!

Great advice! I love travelling in France, its very beautiful trip to provide the yummy food in streets. There are many restaurants to cater the best Indian Foods and Spicy Food. I like it.

It’s always great to join a city food tour. They know what’s great to try, when if your by yourself you may not want to give it a go. Good stuff!
Cristina says
I agree David. Small group tours are especially great for solo travellers to meet other people and share the experience.

I love this video!! I just want to go to Nice. Take me with you and I can blog about running and you can take me to all of the delicious food?
Cristina says
Siobhan!! You would be proud. I actually joined my very first marathon when I was in Nice. I’ll be writing about it soon. It was the perfect way to end in Provence and I’m hoping to run more races during my travels this year! Dream come true!

A beautiful video! Now I’m hungry. 😉
